Maharashtra: Strengthening Public Health through CSR Collaboration

CSR Conclave

Maharashtra State is the growth engine of India. While the State has made significant progress across most developmental indicators, there remain pockets of underdeveloped areas with poor health outcomes that require urgent intervention.

Recent outbreaks, such as measles in the slums of Mumbai, serve as a wake-up call to collectively strengthen health systems beyond current efforts. Alongside long-standing challenges in health and nutrition, the COVID-19 pandemic has underscored the critical need for focused attention on pandemic preparedness and resilient healthcare infrastructure.

This CSR Conclave is a joint initiative of the Public Health Department, Government of Maharashtra, civil society organizations, and the corporate and public sectors. The objective is to identify key health challenges and co-create sustainable solutions that support long-term development across the State.

Addressing these challenges calls for an inter-sectoral and multi-stakeholder approach to uplift Maharashtra’s overall health status. In the post-COVID-19 era, CSR initiatives have gained renewed momentum, offering an opportunity to strengthen healthcare delivery systems more effectively.

Sectors such as public health, nutrition, education, skill development, and disaster management can work collaboratively to improve health outcomes across the State. Recognizing this, and with a view to overcoming complex healthcare challenges through productive partnerships, the Government of Maharashtra is organizing this CSR Conclave in collaboration with Doctors For You.

The Conclave aims to engage corporates and public sector organizations actively involved in CSR, fostering meaningful partnerships to strengthen Maharashtra’s health systems and contribute to a healthier, more resilient State.
