Public Health CSR Cell

Functions

The Maharashtra Public Health CSR Cell (name to be finalised by the Department) shall serve as the nodal facilitation and coordination body for channelising Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) investments towards public health priorities in the State of Maharashtra.

Key functions include :

  • Formulating Programs and Schemes: To design, develop and implement schemes or initiatives in alignment with the objectives of the CSR Cell and the broader goals of the Public Health Department.
  • Providing Technical and Advisory Support: To offer technical assistance, information, guidance, inspection, and supervisory support to corporates, institutions, organizations, or implementing agencies engaged in CSR activities in the health sector.
  • Facilitating Partnerships and Collaboration: To collaborate with corporates, associations, cooperatives, advisory bodies, nongovernmental organizations, and other stakeholders to achieve the objectives of the CSR Cell effectively and efficiently.

  • Financial Management and Investments: To manage and invest CSR funds in a manner consistent with government norms, ensuring safety, transparency, and accountability. To deposit, safeguard, or manage official documents, instruments, or certificates with approved banking institutions as required.
  • Execution of Financial Instruments: To issue, accept, endorse, or execute necessary financial instruments—such as bills, notes, warrants, or securities—related to the functioning of the CSR Cell, as permitted under applicable regulations.
  • Asset Management: To acquire, lease, or hold movable and immovable assets, rights, or privileges necessary for fulfilling the objectives of the CSR Cell. To sell, lease, or otherwise dispose of assets in accordance with approved policies and regulations.
  • Human Resource Engagement: To engage, appoint, and manage officers, experts, consultants, and support staff as required, and to determine their terms of employment and remuneration, in line with government norms.
  • General Powers and Ancillary Functions:To undertake all acts and measures that may be conducive to, or necessary for, achieving the aims and objectives of the CSR Cell, ensuring effective utilization of CSR resources for improved public health outcomes.
